The Archangels Tell Us How to Get Out of a Funk

If you read my Friday article last week, you know my family had quite a scare with my eighteen-month-old grandson when he had to undergo major brain surgery to tame a lemon-sized cyst in his brain.  It was touch and go there for a while, and we had a setback, but I’m happy to share with you that Joshua is at home resting now and getting better.  His pediatric neurosurgeons are very optimistic.  Thanks to all of you who sent good wishes.

As you can imagine, going on that rollercoaster all of last week was challenging, to say the least, but the gratitude I feel for the positive outcome is ongoing.  I’m tired, though, and I started feeling kind of yucky two days ago.  I figured it was just the previous week catching up to me, the lack of sleep and not eating well, but nope, that wasn’t it.  Instead, I have a case of salmonella poisoning, no doubt from the burrito bowl I ordered from Chipotles this week.

REALLY?  Give me a damn break, would you?  So, this is going to be short and sweet, or maybe I should say down and dirty, as I try to pull myself up by the bootstraps, count my blessings, and move forward.  I’m really sorry, but I don’t think I can do that with a smile on my face!  I’m grouchy, touchy, uncomfortable, and yeah, a little angry that I’m dealing with this on top of the week from hell last week.

Here’s the thing … I really am grateful my grandson is doing well, and I truly know I have many blessings, but right now, I’m feeling quite put out, and I don’t have a very good attitude.  Little things poke at me, like why Apple TV only releases episodes of a series once a week, instead of allowing you to binge them.  Netflix is great for that, but Ted Lasso, the new season, isn’t on Netflix, it’s on Apple.  How rude!

I’m cancelling several subscriptions, too.  You know how they offer deals in bundles, like three channels for one great price?  Since I’m not good for much other than sleeping and watching TV right now, I surfed through that last bundle deal of three classic stations and found nothing to occupy my mind enough to keep it off these damn stomach cramps that are torturing me.  It’s not a good deal if there’s nothing you want to watch on any of the stations.  CANCEL!

I need to send Reiki to my daughter shortly before she takes her last final.  Do you think it’ll be tainted by the salmonella?  I hope not.  I also work with the Arcturians with daily Reiki, and I wondered the same thing.  Maybe I’ll ask them to send me some healing.

Most mornings, I start with reading the headlines over a cup of coffee – very few of the actual articles, because that’s sure to send me into a tailspin – and I do a few puzzles before I start my day.  I love my morning cup of coffee, but today, it sounded awful, and I resent that.  When I got to the puzzles, I couldn’t concentrate on them and put them away, and when I caught myself calling complete strangers bad names as I read the headlines, I stopped reading those, too.

Anyway, I’m cranky, uncomfortable, and whiny.  I hate being whiny.  It’s beneath me, really, but every once in a while …

I asked the Archangels for some advice on how to get past a pity party as quickly as possible, and their response follows.

Question:  I hate feeling like this, and I know I have a lot to be grateful for, especially as Joshua continues to improve, but I feel yucky not only physically but emotionally, also.  I kind of feel disappointed in myself that I can’t set aside the aggravation for the gratitude. I’m not there yet.  Can you offer some advice to all of us on how to get back on track as quickly as possible?

Answer:

Dearest friend and all who can relate to the question, which includes every single person on Earth, we wish to tell you to give yourself a break.  You have been through a lot lately, and you are human, so it is completely understandable that you are having a hard time managing your life right now.  It does not speak poorly of you that you feel overwhelmed, cranky, or anything else.  Everyone has times like that!  You are entitled to every grouchy thought you have.  You deserve to feel overwhelmed and aggravated.  There is nothing wrong with this.  If someone came to you and described what you’ve been dealing with lately, would you tell them to suck it up and get over themselves, or would you support them and be understanding of why they felt that way?  We know you, so the question is rhetorical, and that is the case for most people.

It is perfectly understandable that people feel overwhelmed at times, and grouchy, and aggravated and angry.  You would not be human if you did not feel this way sometimes.  Human beings are highly emotional beings, and you feel things so intensely at times, it is to be expected that you experience fluctuations in energy, which affect mood.  The good news is, although energy is constantly fluctuating, when you have a bad day or week, once you allow yourself to experience these feelings, it’s usually easy to release them and recalibrate to your regular level of vibration.  It takes a lot to permanently affect vibration, and that doesn’t happen very often, certainly not over a week or two.  If you’re not in the mood to count your blessings, go ahead and count your troubles, just do not get stuck there.  Be resentful, angry, aggravated and overwhelmed as needed, then, if you are in this habit, you will eventually let it go and go back to focusing on the positive, rather than the negative, because the negative, although understandable, does not feel good, and it is not your norm.  It is not where you want to remain, so you will pull yourself out sooner, rather than later.

Be gentle with yourself.  Be kind to yourself.  Feeling down for short amounts of time is normal and understandable.  It is part of being human.  Rest, pamper yourself, cry if you need to.  Eventually, you will get back to being yourself and dealing with the world in a more positive way.  This is a very short stop in your life, one that you will quickly leave behind and from which you will recover completely.  We, the Archangels, will come to your pity party and you will see that before much time passes, it will end, and the sun will shine again.

Final Thoughts

I knew they would say that.  They often remind me to rest or cut myself some slack.  And, they’re right, I wouldn’t think badly of someone who was grouchy after the couple of weeks I’ve been through.  I guess I’ll take another nap.  Maybe I’ll find a new series on Netflix I can binge.  I’m still going to cancel that bundle deal, though.

If you don’t receive my free newsletter, the Archangels have set a new intention for Friday Night Meditation with the Archangels, and it’s Building Bridges.  They’re asking us to start very slowly on small things we can do to change things for the better, and they say we need to rebuild some of the bridges that have burned down that separate us from others.  They remind us often that we have more in common than we have differences, despite what the people in power have told us.  We’re all just people who want a better life, right?  In order to get it, we need to start working together.  You’re invited to join the group from wherever you are, at whatever time you’re available on Friday’s during August.  Just call on the Archangels and offer loving thoughts, prayers, and energy to whoever needs it.  They’ll take it from there.

I hope your weekend is full of joy, hope, love, and peace.  Let’s all hang in there.  By next week, I’m sure I’ll be back to my regular non-grouchy self, and I’m sorry I wasn’t today, although, I agree with the Angels, it’s okay if I don’t feel good and if I count troubles instead of blessings from time to time.  Don’t worry, I won’t get stuck there.

Blessings, all.
