Souls Have to Heal, Too

A Message from my Higher Self

I had a hard time getting comfortable with the soul/human relationship, because initially it seemed like my soul just planned the life I would lead and went about her merry way. Like most people, I’ve had some hard times, and that didn’t set well. I’ve learned since that it’s not like that. Yes, the soul plans the life, and it targets certain life lessons and experiences that will help us grow spiritually and evolve. We have free will and can override these plans, but whether we do or not, the soul isn’t off somewhere having fun or taking a break. It experiences everything we do.
The soul resides in and out of the body, so it’s in more than one place at a time, always trying to guide us in a direction that will eventually help us, whether or not we listen to the guidance, which we may not even be aware of until after the life is over. That doesn’t sound like the soul has it easy while we’re toiling away on Earth. It sounds frustrating and exhausting to me.
A while back, I had a quantum energy healing session with a lady I’ve written about before, Tera McAmis. She mentioned I had some blocked energy near my root chakra, likely from several generations back, and she helped clear it. It got me to thinking about generational healing and trauma that many of us are still dealing with, even though most of us don’t realize, understand, or are even aware of it.
The more I thought about it, the more intrigued I became, so I channeled my soul and asked her to explain this in more depth.
Question: It occurs to me that if souls experience everything we, as humans, experience, they probably sometimes need to heal after a life ends, just like we have to heal from trauma while on Earth. I feel kind of bad for not thinking of this sooner. I tend to just think about the healing I need as a human. Can you please expand on this?
Answer:
I am you, and you are me, and there is no reason to feel badly for not considering this before now. As we grow closer consciously and as you grow and evolve more spiritually, our connection deepens and is less separated by the distance created as you incarnated on Earth to live this lifetime. In truth, we are, have always been, and will always be inseparable, but your awareness of this connection is growing. As you continue to evolve, more questions like this will arise, and you can always ask for more information.
There is no need or aim for sympathy where souls are concerned. If anything, souls sympathize with our incarnated counterparts, because although we plan and often know what is coming for this lifetime, as humans, there is no memory of the plan or the reasons and necessities of the plan. Since as humans you do not have the universal knowledge that souls have and use to plan the human experience, you are not only caught unaware, you are often at a loss to understand what is happening and why. This is necessary, but I am sorry for the difficulty you experience, even though it serves us both well.
Even knowing and understanding the life plan does not cancel the suffering that sometimes takes place during a human life for the soul. Although we have more knowledge as souls, we experience the same pain humans do in terms of mental, emotional, spiritual, and energetic factors, and as we are inside your body, we also feel the physical pain you feel. We suffer with you, because we are you.
When a soul experiences a particularly difficult life, we also need to recover when the human life ends. It is true that we rejoice and celebrate when we return in full to the soul realms, but once we are greeted and the whole of the soul is reunited, including that part of our consciousness that lived within the human body, we sometimes require a period of rest and recuperation before reviewing the previous life and planning the next. In Earth time, this sometime takes years. Eventually, after time and effort, we move on, all of us reviewing the lifetime and identifying what was gained, spending time with those we love and learn from and with, and most of us eventually begin to work within our soul groups to plan the next life.
What is important to remember is that, as humans, you usually are limited to memories and experiences from your current lifetime, but as souls, we have memories from many lifetimes, and we retain the lessons we have learned, the memories and people we experienced and knew, and the growth we gained throughout all of them. The people we loved as humans and even those we disliked or who treated us badly remain in our hearts and consciousness, and all is forgiven and appreciated. We are grateful for all that we experienced on Earth, because all experiences helped us to grow and evolve. Each lifetime brings us closer to the source of universal consciousness, which is the overall goal.
When people talk about healing on a soul level, this usually refers to trauma experienced in previous lives. As souls, we heal from trauma, in most cases, but just as humans can be triggered by past traumas even after they have healed from them, souls can also be triggered, which can affect the current lifetime. This is why some things you encounter during your lifetime bother you in some way, and you don’t really know why.
For example, if a soul drowned in a former human lifetime, they may retain an aversion to interacting with bodies of water or water activities in a future lifetime. In our case [my soul is referring to me in this lifetime], it is important to you as a human to be heard, to have a voice, and to be able to voice your views and opinions, because there have been previous lifetimes you remember at a soul level, rather than as a human memory, when you were unable to do so or when you were harmed, even killed for doing so. The energy resulting from this kind of trauma can remain throughout many future lifetimes, since there might not have been an opportunity to heal from it when it was experienced, not only due to death, but also because some wrongs cannot be corrected until generations later.
In our case, you were severely punished for speaking your opinion as a woman at a time when women were viewed as property without any rights, and no matter how much longer you lived during that lifetime, you would not have been viewed differently or provided with opportunities to overcome that kind of conflict and heal during that lifetime, so the need to heal further and experience that change in circumstances didn’t happen until several lifetimes later.
This also resulted in certain people who were part of this lifetime being chosen to be part of the life plan, so we could heal on a soul level. When using your voice and being heard occurred during this lifetime, and you were able to do this, healing took place. The people who challenged you in doing this actually served a higher purpose which led to this healing, and even though you may not wish to be around them while you remain on Earth, understandably, you will greet them warmly and with gratitude when your meet them on this side.
As the Archangels frequently remind you, healing from trauma as a human should be a priority, always. This is also true at the soul level. As souls, we absorb everything you do, but our goals and needs involve more than this lifetime. We may learn valuable lessons which we planned for during a lifetime, and we are grateful for them, but we may also need to heal from them, and this may take several lifetimes.
Some trauma can be overcome in the same lifetime if the circumstances allow for it, such as overcoming living in poverty or being homeless and later finding shelter, but some things cannot be overcome in a lifetime, whether for lack of opportunity or because the world at that time is not conducive to the change needed for healing. When this is the case, trauma to the soul is usually carried over into future lifetimes.
Going back to the issue of healing from trauma regarding not being able to use your voice and be heard in previous lifetimes, when we were abused due to speaking our opinion at that time, there was never an opportunity to right that wrong, as society at that time would not allow for it. During this lifetime, that became more of an option, as it was safer and more doable now than it was in the past. Whereas we suffered for not being able to use our voice in prior lives, you were more able to do so during this lifetime, so there was healing on a soul level. Now, we have the lesson and the healing.
You asked me once which lifetime has been my favorite, and my answer was this lifetime. This will always be the answer, because in addition to learning, experiencing, and evolving more than ever before, we have also healed more than ever before, which will be the case in every lifetime. We never devolve, we always move forward and get closer to what many know as enlightenment, so as every lifetime brings us closer to this point, every new lifetime is a favorite. That is not to discount previous lifetimes, as they all led to this point, but each life brings us closer to the ultimate goal, so we appreciate them all, celebrating each one and everything that was accomplished.
The important points to remember include knowing there is a higher purpose for everything you experience in each lifetime, you are never alone, and no matter what each lifetime entails, you make spiritual progress you may or may not understand at the time. Trust, however, that you are gaining spiritual ground, even when it feels as though you are losing ground as a human. If you can, try to identify lessons learned, but know that the things you do not understand now, as a human, will eventually become clear, if not in this lifetime, then afterwards.
Final Thoughts
I don’t remember my past lives, but several high Guides and gifted people have shared bits and pieces of them with me, and there have been several times when I’ve thought, “Oh, now I understand why I …” Even though I don’t remember them, they still affect me in various ways, many of which I may never be aware. Interesting!
I’ve gone from resenting my soul to appreciating “her.” I used to think that life was all about the human self battling the spiritual self, but I’ve come to understand that the struggle is finding ways to blend these two aspects of the same being. The Archangels say the most important connection we can make is with our soul. It was my soul that directed them to approach me before she did, because she knew it would be easier for me to accept that connection, and it definitely was.
If you want to connect with your higher self — and I guarantee your soul wants to connect with you — a good way to start is to get a pen and paper and write down, “What does my soul want me to know today?” Then write down all thoughts, ideas, songs, memories, etc. that go through your mind. I got this idea from Lee Harris, a renowned channel who I find very genuine and helpful. I had already begun channeling my soul when I heard him share this exercise, but I still found it very helpful. Every Sunday, I ask my soul what she wants me to know.
You might feel silly at first, but you also might be surprised at what comes through. If you do this often, you can form a connection with your soul that grows and becomes more and more clear and helpful. When I channel my soul, she always begins with “I am you, and you are me,” since we are the same being. I liken this to water and ice. If you take water and freeze it, it becomes ice, and it seems like it’s very different. When it melts, it becomes water once again, and again, it looks very different, when in fact, it’s the same substance in different forms, right?
When the soul enters a human body, it becomes very different. It takes form when it’s used to being formless energy. When the body dies, the soul leaves it and returns to its real home in the soul realms. It no longer has shape or form, and it seems very different, yet, everything other than the physical form that it experienced as a human remains. It will use what was learned to plan the next life at some point, and both the human and the soul will benefit from it in many ways, even though there will also be hard times and experiences through which both must persevere. The soul doesn’t ask anything of the human that it doesn’t experience itself. We’re not deserted during an incarnation. The soul is with us the entire time. Wouldn’t it be nice to find a way to connect with it while we’re here?
Tonight is the last Friday in May, and the last Friday night meditation focused on Unity. I haven’t found out what the intention in June will be yet, but it’ll be shared with me, then you by next Friday in my monthly newsletter, which you can sign up for on my website:
I’ll also let you know in next Friday’s article. In the meantime, I hope you have a great weekend filled with the Big 4, joy, hope, love, and peace. Maybe you’ll find the time to try to connect with your soul.
Blessings, all.
