The Archangels Explain that We are Always a Work in Progress
I’m usually working with several people at a time on coursework for the AAP project my partner, Kathleen, and I oversee, and as I was reviewing one of my student’s answers to a reflective question, I was impressed with what she had to say, which prompted me to write this article.
The question had to do with determining a priority regarding whether or not they would focus on self-growth or on helping other people. The purpose of the question was to pin down which path of the AAP to follow, channeling the Archangels or activating other people to channel them. It’s not that it’s an either/or prospect, but it usually helps a person to identify next steps.
The question is qualified by explaining that self-growth is not a selfish choice, as some people are prompted to believe, but a necessary one, as it is very difficult to help others when you’re not in a good place yourself. The answer given included a statement that the two items, self-growth and helping others grow, are intertwined, and I wondered if the lady who wrote it realized what a profound statement she’d made.
The Archangels tell us that we have to prioritize ourselves many times. I want to take that a step further and combine it with what my student stated. We do need to prioritize our self-care and self-growth, and by doing that, we can be more effective at helping others. I want to also extend that by saying it’s not a process of working on yourself so you are able to help others as much as it is a process of going back and forth between the two things.
When you reach a point where you are in a stable enough place within yourself to be able to help others, that doesn’t mean you’ve complete the work on yourself, and you’re then finished. No, it’s an ongoing journey that lasts through many lifetimes. We all reach highs and lows. When we get high enough that we feel we can extend our care towards others, that’s wonderful, but that doesn’t mean our lows are over and done with, and we won’t take any backward steps.
We’re all in the middle of this huge shift taking place on Earth. Many of us are reaching new heights and realizations that lead us into wanting to help others along the way, and that’s beautiful. However, it’s important to remember that the more we learn, the more we realize we don’t yet know, and many of us feel more and more driven to understand and learn more. It’s easy to get excited about learning more about the world and the universe and how things work, along with why things are the way they are and how we can change and improve them. Still, it is ever so important that we continue to strive to learn more about ourselves, too.
I asked the Archangels for some guidance on how we can best continue along the path of self-discovery, and their answer follows.
Question: Most of us want to continue growing and evolving. What’s the best way to ensure this happens?
Answer:
There is no need to ensure this happens, because it automatically does happen. Sometimes, you are aware of the growth taking place, and other times, you are not, but rest assured that you are always growing and evolving, especially right now with The Shift in full swing. In the past, the focus has always been on personal growth from a human’s point of view. Now, it is shifting to a more spiritual perspective. This is relatively new, and it will take some time to get used to it, but more and more, people will be more conscious of their spiritual side, and they will want to explore it in more depth, and that is what we wish to discuss at this time.
It is important to understand who and what you are at this time. This is not a definitive, endpoint discovery as much as it is an ongoing study and continual collection of information. There are some things that are finite and easy to understand, such as the fact that you are a being of light, created in Love, eternal, and divine. Those are the basics. It is what you can and will do with this information that is ongoing and a source of great wonder throughout your life, if you allow it to be.
The monologue is changing from “Who am I?” to “Who can I be?” This is important and fitting for these times. While the first question allows for some growth and change, the second is a list of never ending in possibilities. You must reach the conclusion at some point that your potential is not only limitless, but that you are and can be far more than you ever considered in the past. How much more will depend on your understanding, your determination, and your focus.
If you are to grow spiritually and be aware of this growth, you must see beyond human constraints and desires. This is difficult in a world that is still steeped in fear and that often still functions at a level of survival. You are not likely to grow spiritually, at least in terms of being conscious of this growth, when fear and survival are at the forefront. You must put that aside. Rather than focusing on the world around you, you must learn to focus internally. You must become a student of yourself.
First, you begin at a human level and identify your strengths and weaknesses, along with your limits. We know you must function within the confines of society. There are bills to pay, people to see, jobs to work, and expectations to be met, and we do not suggest that it is possible to overlook these things or to take them off your to-do list or your priorities. However, we do say that you must move beyond them, so you can see that these things are temporary and, while necessary, they are unimportant in the greater scheme of things.
There should be a desire and an effort made to get to know the rest of you, not just the human component. You are human beings, to be sure, but you are also souls. You are also members of the universe, treasured and valued and important. You are all parts to a whole that is greater than your world and your imagination. This is the part of you that needs exploring and pondering.
As you get to know the rest of you better, you will be able to relate to other people better. You will begin to realize that even those people who irritate and cause havoc, adding to the chaos, serve a purpose, and they must be valued, also, as parts of the same whole you belong to. You must release your guilt, shame, and regret, as you realize that all of your mistakes also served a purpose. Then, instead of allowing life to direct you, you will begin to direct your life, not just for your own personal gain, but for the good of all.
Many of you are and have been on this path for some time. This is wonderful, but please understand that it is normal and expected that you will wander off the path from time to time and question newly gained insights. Sometimes, you will not feel like seeking the higher road and rising above the chaos. You may need a break from time to time from awakening to so much more, for it can become overwhelming. Again, you are a divine being of light, but you are also human. What is exceptional about walking a path of enlightenment is that, even if you take an occasional detour, you will find your way back. Know that both the time you are on and off this path of awakening serve a purpose.
Always ask why. Why is the world the way it is? Why are people the way they are? Why are you the way you are? There are reasons and answers for all of these things. In truth, you already know most of these answers, but you have not been privy to them in human form. You can change that gradually, with the help of your soul, high Guides, and helpers, but it takes much introspection and time. Know that in this lifetime, you will never understand everything, but you can discover parts that help to clarify things and guide you on your journey.
Again, we tell you to invite your soul to be an active part of your human life. The soul holds the key to all questions and information you need and can access to grow spiritually and evolve. There are those who can help you along the way, such as those who channel, have access to the Akashic Records, and mediums, who can carry messages to you, but they are no substitute for your soul. They can shed some light, but it will always be a partial view. Your soul knows what you need most and what will serve you best in moving forward. There is no hit or miss, as there always is with a gifted intermediary. Call your soul to you and listen and pay attention to the thoughts and ideas that enter your mind. Consider doing what our channel does, and start a soul journal.
If you are moved to help others in some way, that is indeed beautiful, but those efforts should never overshadow your effort to know yourself and to grow. You will not reach a point when you are finished with working on yourself. You should not reach a point that permanently leads you away from self-discovery. You should not become self-aware only to turn away from it and turn to others, even for the best of reasons. You do not say, “Okay, I understand myself now, so I can begin to help others.” Instead, the thought should be, “Okay, I understand enough now that I can be of some help to others, but while I do that, I also need to come back and continue to focus on my own continued growth.”
Awakening is not an endpoint, it is a beginning, and it will take the rest of your lifetime, as well as many more lifetimes, probably, to reach a point of arrival. The ascended Masters have completely ascended and are in full communion with the Creator, yet they continue to explore ways to help others to join them. They are few, and they wish to be many, so they help others find their way.
You will not likely reach a mastery level of yourself or the universe during this lifetime, but you can evolve and gain ground towards that end, as well as help others along the way to do the same in whatever way is available to you, using the gifts you brought with you into this world. It is not a tradeoff between helping yourself and helping others, it is a joint project. A worthy goal is to gain spiritual ground together.
We are here to help you along this journey as you help yourself and others. This is our purpose. When you focus on certain aspects and reach a pinnacle where you think you have arrived, more aspects will arise and make themselves known to you, so you can focus on them next. This is the way of a spiritual life. You learn, then you learn some more, and so it goes. Do not lose patience with yourself, and do not rush, as there is no competition or finish line. There is only a continuous path with scenic sites along the way for you to enjoy and internalize. Do not focus on an endpoint. Focus on the journey itself.
Final Thoughts
I love this message! It’s a reminder to seek your spiritual side without trying to replace your human side. It suggests seeking our soul, so we can better understand our human selves. Spirituality, awakening doesn’t mean we become spiritual beings instead of human beings. Rather, it’s a blending of the two.
Blending takes time, and since our spiritual and human sides vary greatly, I think of it as kind of like oil and water in a salad dressing. You shake it up, and it blends and adds to the flavor of a salad, but it eventually separates again and has to be re-blended. Sometimes, we blend well with our soul and spiritual self, but we have to remember to re-blend them periodically and regularly in order to add to the flavor of our life. They don’t just automatically stay together permanently after they’re blended, but we can re-blend as needed.
I rather like that analogy, and I hope you do, too.
Blessings, all.
