Is There Good and Bad Luck?

The Archangels Weigh In

ree

Some people and some cultures put a lot of weight behind the idea that some people have good luck, and some people have bad luck for a variety of reasons.  Superstitions abound regarding luck.  I remember someone I knew who used to carry around a “lucky” rabbit’s foot on a key chain – gross!  There are four leaf clovers, “lucky” pennies, horseshoes (you should hang them right side up, so the luck doesn’t leak out, you know), lucky number seven, various rituals people practice before they do certain things that they believe will bring them luck, and certain animals are believed to be portents of good luck.  Sports teams are well known for “lucky” traditions.  The Clemson Tigers touch a rock, the USC Trojans’ drum major plunges a sword into midfield, and the Maryland Terrapins touch the nose of a bronze mascot statue before every home game.

These practices have become as much a tradition as the belief in luck, and they can be a big part of how things are done, and even if you don’t really believe in a lucky practice affecting the outcome of something, many people include these traditions anyway … just in case!  Some cultures put stock in certain jewelry, symbols, animals, colors, and crystals.  My brother-in-law used to work for Toyota, and part of his benefits package included the use of a new vehicle of his choice.  He initially selected a black truck but was told that the combination of his position, that color, and the vehicle was bad luck, and he had to choose another color.  The Chinese put a lot of stock in jade as having good luck.  Indians believe elephants bring good fortune.  Scarab beetles were believed to have protective value in ancient Egypt.  Today, crickets are considered to be good luck by some.  People toss coins in wishing wells and place money in wishing trees for good luck.  Say what you will, but a lot of folks put a lot of stock in the ideas of good and bad luck.

I asked the Archangels about luck and if there really is such a thing, and their response follows.

Question:  Is there such a thing as good or bad luck?  Are people born with one or the other?  Does luck play a part in people’s lives?

Answer:

We figuratively smile as we respond to this question, because our channel thinks the answer is much more simple than it actually is.  It is actually more complex for several reasons, and much of it has to do with energy and the strength of the human mind and spirit.  Simply put, if someone strongly believes in something, it can affect the outcome of what they do.  However, the idea of luck, good or bad, also has a darker side to it, which we will also address.

We will begin by stating that there are no favorites in terms of the people on Earth when it comes to universal love and support.  All of you are loved unconditionally, and no one is favored over another, regardless of beliefs, practices, history, or actions.  The idea of unconditional love sounds simple, but few people on Earth truly grasp it.  Whoever you are and whatever you do, you are loved.  Full stop.  You do not have to earn this Love, you do not have to do certain things or stop doing certain things.  You do not have to meet certain criteria, change your life, repent, or be forgiven. You. Are. Loved. Unconditionally.

No one is given preferential treatment, however the life plan a person has in place for this lifetime has a lot to do with what some of you consider the “luck” factor.  When a soul plans a life, they target certain lessons to be learned, and if the plan is followed, they find themselves in positions where learning these lessons becomes more likely and probable.  Sometimes, a life can appear to be particularly blessed or cursed, lucky or unlucky, depending on the life plan, but it is planning, rather than luck that sets up most scenarios.

Everyone has a spiritual guidance team to assist with the life plan and to help the person realize the goals the soul has set, and most are accomplished.

The part that is hard for many to grasp here is that, even when someone appears to fail at something, they can actually be very successful in terms of accomplishing a life goal.  This is not to say that this makes it any easier on the human being to deal with hardship and challenge, but spiritually speaking, you have grown in most cases, even if you do not understand this until after this lifetime ends.  It is small comfort, we know, when you are suffering from what life brings, but try to consider that at the soul level, there are no failures.  Everything you experience in this lifetime serves you and others in ways you may not realize until the life review after this life ends.  So, in a sense, your soul plans much of the level of “luck” or seemingly the lack thereof, that you encounter in your lifetime.

We realize this is difficult to grasp when you are so entrenched in the survival of living and trying to make progress on a human level and scale.  We know it is little relief to know that you are actually gaining spiritually when you feel you are losing at the game of living a human life based on prescribed levels and gauges of success, but it is true nonetheless.  So, in essence, there is no such thing as “luck.”

Having said that, there is much to be said about the belief in luck as human beings.  If you believe strongly enough in luck or in a particular action or practice that you believe can bring you more luck, it can definitely have an effect on certain outcomes, not because you generate or trigger lucky outcomes, but because your strong beliefs can affect your energy, your confidence, and your courage when focusing on a particular outcome.  For example, if you believe placing a statue of a dragon in a particular place in your home will affect your luck in certain things, but you do nothing more than place it where you are told and promptly forget about it, nothing is likely to happen simply by following those directions.  However, if you follow those directions and refer to this symbol often, then spend time focusing on the outcome you want daily, acting towards making something happen, put in the time and effort required while thinking the dragon statue can help you accomplish your goals, that can lead to a form of manifestation, reenforced by the fruit of your thoughts and labors, that can indeed affect the outcome of things in your favor.  It’s energetic and an effect of your efforts, but if you prefer to call it luck, there is no harm.

If touching a particular artifact or reciting a phrase or prayer brings you the courage and confidence to act on an idea that perhaps you would not have without performing a particular ritual, then it can definitely affect the outcome.  If repeating a mantra or declaration of sorts daily reminds you of what you want to accomplish, that is fine.

Sometimes, the act of rituals and the actions based on beliefs can raise your vibration and affect you in very positive ways that might not have been available without using these things.  In actuality, it is you that is responsible for the outcome, but if relying on certain practices and beliefs increases your confidence in yourself and your ability to access your power and your gifts, there is nothing wrong with that.  In fact, it can be a beautiful and effective way in which you can bring more joy, hope, love, and peace into your life and practices.  This raises your vibration.  Whether or not it is real to others does not matter if it is real to you.

The dark side of the belief in luck has to do with the belief that there is nothing you can do to change your life if you are blessed or cursed by luck, and that if your life is “good”, it means you are favored, while if your life is “bad,” it means you are being punished by Karma, for actions you’ve done in the past, for ancestral reasons or because your god is angry with you.  Part of the reason Yeshua, or Jesus, came to Earth was to correct this notion.  At that time, it was believed that those in power were favored by God, and those in poverty or in constant strife were being punished for something they or their ancestors did and were forsaken by God.  This is why He spent so much time with the people who were considered lowly and marginalized.  Their treatment was based in the belief that if God did not favor them, they were not worthy of care or compassion, that they were unimportant and insignificant, and those with greater status were worthy of favor, because they were loved by God.  This is absolutely untrue.

Going back to how we started this message, everyone is loved equally and unconditionally.  When “good” things happen to you, we celebrate you.  When “bad” things happen to you, we also celebrate you, even as we offer you strength and comfort, because we know that you have grown spiritually and are that much closer to reaching the goals set by your soul for this lifetime.  We do not interfere with the life plan.  We cannot go against it, even if you ask us to take away what you consider “bad luck” if it serves a greater purpose that helps you in the end.  We can, however, help you get through hard times and support you as you conquer them.  We can provide guidance, resources, and ideas to help you overcome the hardships and challenges that, believe it or not, will end up serving you well.  It is not our goal to alleviate all obstacles and make sure your life is pleasant all the time.  No, our goal is to help you persevere and conquer difficulty, knowing that it helps you to evolve, even if it is hard for you to grasp this.

Consider, also, that life is never all good or all bad, and while you cannot control everything that happens in life, you can control your responses and your reactions.  You are not at the mercy of the world, and you can make your life better by focusing on healing and learning and growing.  If you do not like some aspect of your life, you have the power to change it, and we can help you do that.  While there is a plan in place, you are still in charge of your life through free will, and you can create it any way you want to.  If thinking that luck is on your side helps you do this, there is nothing wrong with that.

Whatever you do, we, your spiritual team, and the Universe will support you in many ways, always wanting what is best for you, and while we cannot save you from all of the negative aspects of your life, we can still help you discover and develop the more positive aspects.  It is always up to you how to interpret and react to whatever challenges you face, and you have more power to shape your life than you realize.

We send you all energies or Love and Light and stand ready to help when you invite us to do so.

Final Thoughts

I’ve never put a lot of stock in luck, although I’ve had my moments when I indulged in certain rituals in hopes of improving things.  I have always felt divinely loved and supported, whatever was happening in my life, and I’ve never felt alone.  My ideas about receiving divine help throughout my life have changed through the years, and there was certainly a period of time when I was mad at my soul after finding out that it was responsible for planning my life, including all the crappy stuff that has happened to me.  I’ve come to realize that there’s a bigger plan in place.  Sometimes, I’m able to look back and see some positive things that came from hard times, and other times, I don’t understand why things happened, but I trust that there’s a lesson to be learned, and I try to accept that there’s a reason that things happen, even if I can’t figure out what that reason is right now.  I don’t believe much in luck anymore.  I do, however believe in high guidance, divine intervention, and synchronicity, and I’ve accepted that I’ll never understand the reasons behind some things, and that’s okay.

Happy Friday!  If you’re interested, Friday night meditation with the Archangels happens weekly.  All you have to do is call on them, and offer up positive energy to the world and everyone in it from wherever you are at whatever time is convenient to you.  This month’s intention for our combined energy is Courage.  Everyone is welcome.

I hope you have a wonderful, peaceful weekend, and if you believe in luck, I hope you feel lucky!  Regardless, I hope you know you are loved unconditionally.

Blessings, all.
